What actually makes Max memorable as we speak, and notable for the needs of NEAR’s slightly cringey gambit, is the published that wasn’t purported to be: the Max Headroom incident. In 1987, an unknown sign pirate hijacked a “Dr. Who” broadcast in Chicago and went on a 90-second nonsensical ramble, all whereas carrying a Max Headroom masks.
