HKEX Selects Daniel Sonder as Chief Strategy Officer

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) confirmed the appointment of Daniel Sonder, the former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at B3, as its Chief Strategy Officer, today. In his new role, Sonder will report to Nicolas Aguzin, Chief Executive Officer of HKEX.

In addition to the appointment of Sonder, HKEX announced the expansion of its Emerging Business Development team with the hiring of Andrew Walton and Ken Chiu. The latest announcement from HKEX came almost 3 weeks after the Group appointed Kian Hoe Tan as the Managing Director and Head of Treasury.

“I am delighted to appoint Daniel as our new Chief Strategy Officer. With more than two decades of broad international experience in capital markets, financial services and exchange operations, his experience will be invaluable to us as we realize our ambition to build the Marketplace of the Future,” Aguzin commented on the appointment of Sonder.

In his broad career, Sonder worked with some of the prominent names in the financial services industry. He spent approximately 7 years at Credit Suisse.

Walton and Chiu

Walton has joined HKEX as the Managing Director and Head of Digital Assets Markets. In his new position, Walton will play an important role in expanding the company’s presence in the digital asset ecosystem. Chiu, on the other hand, has joined HKEX as the Head of Carbon and ESG Products.
