Michael Saylor: “This Is The Most Important Thing In Technology Right Now”
In early August 2022, Bitcoin Bull Michael Saylor stepped down as CEO of Microstrategy, the company he founded in the 1980s. Saylor retained his position as chairman of the board and took on the new title of executive chairman. Saylor cited that his reasoning for stepping down was to focus exclusively on the Bitcoin strategy for Microstrategy. The software company has become more known for its Bitcoin acquisitions, and it currently owns 129,699 bitcoins with an average price of $30,650. Bitcoin currently sits at $19,870.51. As a guest speaker at Baltic Honeybadger 2022 Conference, Saylor cleared the air about stepping down as CEO, and spoke about the current project he’s working on pertaining to the Lightning Network. In Saylor’s view, Lightning is the most important thing going on in the world in technology. Saylor stated that MicroStrategy is looking for solutions that would allow companies to “roll out Lightning to a hundred thousand employees every day” or “open Lightning wallets for 10 million customers overnight.” It’s still a very early stage and it’s yet to be seen whether any viable products would come out of this.
