BBVA-backed digital bank, Neon recently announced that the company has selected André Madeira, former Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google, as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his new position, Madeira will play an important role in the development of technology-driven financial products.
In his professional career of more than two decades, Madeira worked with prominent names in the global technology sector. He joins Neon from Coinbase where he served as the Director of Engineering for almost one year.
Prior to joining Coinbase, he served as co-founder and CEO of Meemo, an AI-powered fintech startup that was acquired by Coinbase. Between 2016 and 2018, Madeira also worked with Snap as the Director of Engineering.
“People’s relationship with money is quite emotional, especially on the low end of the income spectrum. Building trust through fair, understandable, and useful financial products is key to creating a loyal bridge between consumers and products and services,” Madeira said. “I was captivated by Neon’s mission and impressed by its commitment to using technology to provide equitable offerings for the underbanked in Brazil while striving to deliver a first-class customer experience that has been reserved only for the wealthy.”
Innovative Technologies
In the latest announcement, Neon also highlighted the importance of investing in innovative technologies like data science and machine learning. To achieve its goals, Neon is planning to enhance its investment in data engineering, ML, and distributed systems to improve and personalize the customer experience.
“In order to succeed in this increasingly competitive market, all areas of technology such as engineering, data, product, and design must work extremely well together,” Madeira added.
“I am ecstatic with André’s arrival. All of us at Neon believe his international experience and technical excellence in building joyful products for hundreds of millions of people will be a crucial asset to the company. I look forward to partnering with him on building a world-class team at Neon,” Pedro Conrade, Founder and CEO of Neon, commented.
