The most recent hype round Bitcoin (BTC) Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens is unsustainable and can fade away in a matter of months, in line with JAN3 CEO Samson Mow.

“These guys are mainly paying huge quantities of charges that go on to Bitcoin miners, and there’s no manner this may be sustained,” Mow mentioned in an unique interview with Cointelegraph.

“They may fade away after even months, let’s not speak about years right here,” he continued.

Rising exercise round Ordinals and BRC-20 – a crypto know-how that permits customers to mint fungible and non-fungible tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain – is the primary trigger frightening a spike in transaction charges, which resulted within the congestion of the Bitcoin community.

Whereas many members of the Bitcoin neighborhood see Ordinals as a use-case that would increase Bitcoin adoption, Mow considers them simply as spam clogging the community.

“These are simply short-term cash grabs just like most issues on competing chains like Ethereum and Solana,” he identified.

To Mow, mass adoption of Bitcoin will occur due to its use case as a saving know-how and as a way of trade, not due to “individuals minting JPEGs and sticking them within the chain.”
