India launched two CBDC pilots final 12 months. The primary, a wholesale CBDC effort (CBDC-W), started on Nov. 1 with the participation of 9 banks. The opposite, a retail CBDC (CBDC-R) pilot, launched on Dec. 1 in 4 cities – Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar. Initially, 4 banks, together with the State Financial institution of India, ICICI Financial institution, Sure Financial institution and IDFC First Financial institution participated.
