The well-intentioned dangerous concepts for automobiles are fascinating to look again on. One early automaker constructed a literal mechanical horse, which rode on a single wheel and connected to buggy shafts similar to an actual horse. It was guided not by a steering wheel, however with reins connected to the “mouth” of the motorized stallion. Different early experimental automobiles ran on compressed pure fuel (yikes), steam, compressed air and even, sure, electrical energy.
