“Digital currencies are sometimes used as a cost instrument for illicit commerce, notably in drug trafficking, on the darknet, or for the cost of ransoms after cyberattacks,” a report issued by the Monetary Market Supervisory Authority (Finma) mentioned. “The danger of cash laundering within the area of digital foreign money is strengthened by potential anonymity and by the pace and cross-border nature of transactions.”
